E-mail is a huge distraction. Unless answering messages is your job, check and answer your messages only two or three times a day. Let people know that if it can't wait, they should call you.

At the end of every day, set yourself up so that your next morning will go smoothly.

At the beginning of your day, pick the one crucial thing you HAVE to accomplish that day. And get it done. You can make another One Thing list when you're finished.
