Mission Statement

It is the purpose of the Mountain View College Library to develop and maintain programs to promote quality educational opportunities for staff and students.

The primary function of the library is to facilitate and improve learning by providing educational resources, instruction, and services in support of the college curriculum.

A secondary function is to provide resources and services relevant to the information needs and to the intellectual, professional, cultural, and personal growth of the college community.

Department Description

The Mountain View College Library is an information center which supports academic transfer programs and technology/occupational programs through classroom instruction and distance learning. The library, maintains a substantial collection of books, journals, and electronic resources on a variety of subjects.  Other resources provided may include slides, tapes, compact discs, videotapes, films, digital videodisks, links to websites, electronic books, and online databases.

The college librarians orient users to the information environment and introduce them to the tools needed to navigate an increasingly complex world of information resources. Through orientation and research classes, librarians provide information skills to help the users achieve academic goals.
