Library Technology Instruction Room

The Library Technology Instruction Room is available for research instruction taught by or co-taught with a Mountain View librarian. The room may be booked 2 working days in advance for non-research related instruction. Non-research bookings may also be made during the last week of the Fall and Spring semesters in advance.

The Technology Instruction Room located in the Library is reserved for those faculty/staff members with whom Mountain View librarians collaboratively instruct research literacy using the discipline's content. According to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools one of the essential roles of the library outlined in the Library and Learning/Information Resources (11.3) is, "The institution provides (a) student and faculty access and user privileges to its library services and (b) access to regular and timely instruction in the use of the library and other learning/information resources." Usage of the room, for non-research related classes in not encouraged to ensure students have a dedicated area for research instruction as outlined by SACS.

  1. Faculty/staff will remain with students during the lessons.

Research lessons are specialized for each instructor/staff member. Students often ask content/assignment related questions during the lesson that cannot be answered by the librarian. Therefore, the Library asks that a faculty/staff member remain for the lesson. In the event that a faculty member is not present at the scheduled booking, the Library staff will comply with Mountain View's Operational Memorandum: Faculty Responsibilities and Course Syllabi guidelines by reporting an instructor's absence to the appropriate Dean.

  2. Requests for library instruction/room bookings should be submitted at least 4 working days in advance to allow for instruction plan time.
